Community Services
The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety offers a number of additional community services to assist our citizens. Those additional services are listed below.

Vacation Notification and Property Checks
In the event you are going to away on vacation, please let the Department of Public Safety know, so that we may be prepared for any emergencies at your residence and can conduct property checks as needed. Please complete our vacation notification form and submit it electronically or print and fax, mail, or drop off the form at the Department of Public Safety.

Court Ordered Services - Alcohol Testing & Fingerprinting
The Pittsfield Department of Public Safety offers our residents court ordered services such as alcohol and preliminary breath testing as well as fingerprinting services. The department will provide preliminary breath alcohol testing to township residents and participants of the 15th District Sobriety Court who have been ordered by the court to received alcohol testing. This service is provided at any time.

The department fulfills court ordered fingerprinting for Pittsfield Township criminal matters. Criminal fingerprint services will be provided to individuals who have been ordered by the criminal court to submit fingerprints. This service is provided on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 2 pm. A valid state issued picture ID is required to obtain this service.

Non-criminal fingerprint services are also provided to township residents. See our Records page for further. 

Sex Offender Registration
Offenders required to register per statute may come to the Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety Mondays through Fridays between 8:30am and 4:30pm.  

Request Security Information or Surveys  
The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety offers information on ways to keep your property as secure as possible. If you would like information regarding a security survey and assessment of your property, please contact our Community Coordinator at 734-822-4959.

Public Safety & Neighborhood Watch Programs
The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety has developed a number of programs that are designed to increase public safety, community involvement and partnerships. Some of our programs include crime prevention, fire prevention, neighborhood watch, apartment and condominium watch, and business security. Child Safety Seat Checks & Education
Some of our personnel have received specialized training in child safety seat laws and installation. If you would like one of our trained officers to inspect your child safety seat, provide important information on laws and standards, or provide you with instruction on installing a child safety seat, please contact our dispatch center at 734.822.4911 or email to schedule an appointment.

Ride Along Program
The Pittsfield Department of Public Safety affords citizens an opportunity to observe police patrol activities and procedures; and to provide them an overall view of a police officer's duties. To begin the application process to ride along with one of our officers, review the Ride-Along Rules and Regulations and fill out the Ride-Along Application and Waiver forms.

Bad Check Diversion Program

The Pittsfield Township Police Department, in cooperation with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office, has developed the following check policy for Pittsfield Township residents and businesses. Please go to our Bad Check Restitution and Policy page for more information n the policy. For those who desire only monetary restitution must seek relief in the civil courts, the Bad Check Restitution Program can assist you in cases where you do not wish to seek criminal prosecution. The Bad Check Restitution Program was specifically "designed to assist merchants in recovering losses from intentionally written bad checks. The Program is FREE to all victims who accept a bad check within Washtenaw County. It is designed to handle dishonored checks marked 'Insufficient or Non-sufficient Funds,' 'Account Closed' and 'No Account' that are passed in Washtenaw County. Our primary goal is to assure full restitution for the victim - including a victim's service fee - without adding to the financial burden of the criminal justice system."
