Zoning Board of Appeals

Overview

The Zoning Board of Appeals is the township body that was created through the authority of the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act to hear and decide on matters as specifically authorized in the township zoning ordinance.

The Zoning Board of Appeals can grant relief to applicants from certain regulations of the zoning ordinance so long as it is done in such a way that the objectives of the ordinance are attained, the public health, welfare, and safety are secured, and substantial justice is done.
