Appearance and protest at the hearing in the special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the state tax tribunal. Written protests shall be filed with the Township Clerk before the hearing.

If written objections are filed, in writing, prior to the hearing by the record owners of land constituting more than 20% of the total land area in the proposed special assessment district, the Township Board shall not create the district or assessments and all proceedings for the formation of the district or assessments shall be terminated.

Periodic redeterminations of cost will be necessary without a change in the special assessment district, and such redeterminations may be made without further notice to record owners or parties in interest in the property.
