[ARCHIVED] Save Money & Water, Use a Rain Barrel - Washtenaw County Conservation District News Release

If you have municipal water and use it for watering your garden, flower beds or landscaping, consider using a rain barrel to collect rainwater from your house roof for those watering needs. Using a rain barrel can benefit your garden and landscaping by taking advantage of rain water, a resource that would otherwise be lost as runoff to storm drains and streams.

The Washtenaw County Conservation District offers 55 gallon rain barrels for sale. Also available are tumbling composters made from food-grade 55 gallon plastic barrels. Rain barrels and composters are available year-round.

Order forms and additional information about both the rain barrels and composters is available at the Conservation District office, 7203 Jackson Road, Ann Arbor, and on the District web site at http://washtenawcd.org/ps/rainbarrels.php . Or call the District office, phone: (734) 761-6721 ext. 5 to find out about current availability.
