What are the penalties for late payments for both real estate taxes and personal property taxes?
Summer taxes: 1% interest is added on the unpaid principal starting on September 15th. An additional 1% is added on the first of each month until taxes are paid in full. On February 15th an additional 3% penalty is added before the bill is turned over to the County as delinquent. Unpaid real estate taxes are turned over to the Washtenaw County Treasurer on March first as delinquent.

Winter taxes: 3% penalty and a 1% interest fee is added on the unpaid principal starting February 15th through February 28th. Unpaid real property taxes are turned over to the Washtenaw County Treasurer 734.222.6600 on March first as delinquent. Personal Property and mobile home taxes do not go to the County Treasurer’s office for collection. They are collected at our office.
